New Brunswick's Ronald Ferguson 8-7, then went on to lose 8-4 against British Columbia's Ron Thompson. Alberta's Dave Haley lost 7-6 to Quebec's Myron Nussey where Alberta's Dave Haley responded with a 10-7 win over Ontario's Fred Osburn. Alberta's Dave Haley won 15-6 against Prince Edward Island's Don Carmichael, then won 6-5 against Brian Penston (Winnipeg, MB) and 10-5 against Nova Scotia's Eric Tweedle. Alberta's Dave Haley won 12-6 against Dave Folk (Saskatoon, SK), then won 9-5 against Northern Ontario's Doug Hagerman and 8-6 against Newfoundland / Labrador's Ken Baggs in their final qualifying round match.
