Artur Ali (Moscow, RUS) finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ali defeated Paddy Kaeser (Schaffhausen, SUI) 5-4, then won 5-4 against Yves Hess (Zug, SUI) and 7-3 against Antonio De Mollinedo (San Sebasian, ESP) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Thompson Curling Challenge Championship title, Ali earned 13.114 world rankings points along with the $4,305CDN first prize cheque, moving up 69 spots the World Ranking Standings into 104th place overall with 22.980 total points. Ali ranks 69th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 17.562 points earned so far this season.
