Smith lost 9-4 to Grant Hardie (Dumfries, SCO) where Smith responded with a 7-5 win over Moray Combe (Perth, SCO). Smith won 5-1 against Scott MacLeod (Aberdeen, SCO), then won 6-3 against Cameron Bryce (Border, SCO) and 8-7 against Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
