Johnston went on to lose 8-2 against Robbie Gordon (Sudbury, NONT). Johnston responded with a 9-6 win over Tanner Horgan (Sudbury, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.

Johnston earned 1.159 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 110th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 40.909 total points. Johnston ranks 110th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 28.789 points earned so far this season.
