Steve Buffington (Pittsburgh, PA) 9-1, then went on to lose 10-9 against Mark Robinson (Pittsburgh, PA). Sather responded with a 10-5 win over Jeff Hannon (Bridgeport, CT). Sather won 10-3 against Keith Dropkin (Wayland, MA), then won 9-3 against Michael Stefanik (Schenectady, NY) and 10-5 against Ivaylo Petrov (Plainfield, NJ). Sather went on to lose 7-5 against Gert Messing (Ardsley, NY). Sather responded with a 7-6 win over Stefanik. Sather went on to lose 9-6 against Messing in their final qualifying round match.
