Todd Birr (Blaine, MN) finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birr defeated Kraig Deeren (Madison, IL) 9-4, then won 10-4 against Tucker Smith (Rolla, ND) and 9-2 against Alex Leichter (Boston, MA) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the US Men's Challenge Round Championship title, Birr earned 13.078 world rankings points, moving up 14 spots the World Ranking Standings into 90th place overall with 50.247 total points. Birr ranks 70th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 49.567 points earned so far this season.
