Derek Oryniak (Winnipeg, MB) lost 7-4 to Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the Manitoba Canola Junior Mens, held January 5 - 10, 2016 at the Rivers Curling Club in Rivers, Canada.
 
Oryniak finished 5-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Oryniak defeated Ryan Wiebe (Winnipeg, MB) 8-6, then won 7-3 against Dustin Pratcshler (La Salle, MB) and 7-2 against Carter Watkins (Swan River, MB). Oryniak won 15-1 against Matthew Stewart (Thompson, MB). Oryniak went on to lose 9-3 against Devon Wiebe (Winnipeg, MB). Oryniak lost 4-1 to Dunstone where Oryniak responded with a 5-4 win over Shayne MacGranachan (Brandon, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
. For week of the event schedule, Oryniak did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Oryniak ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
