Greg Smith (St. John, NL) finished 5-4 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith lost 9-4 to Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB), droppimg another game, 11-6 to Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) where Smith responded with a 9-8 win over Felix Asselin (Montreal, QC). Smith went on to lose 7-3 against Doug Kee (Ottawa, ON). Smith lost 9-3 to Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS) where Smith responded with a 14-0 win over Arthur Siksik (Rankin Inlet, NU). Smith won 9-3 against Brayden Klassen (Whitehorse, YK), then won 9-8 against Matthew MacLean (O'Leary, PEI) and 17-4 against Matthew Miller (Inuvik, NT) in their final qualifying round match.

Smith earned 2.061 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week of the event schedule, Smith did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Smith ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
