In their opening game, Moore defeated Dick Goodspeed (St. Paul, MN) 7-4, then won 8-3 against Mike Farbelow (St. Paul, MN) and 7-2 against John Bauer (Blaine, MN). Moore won 7-5 against Lionel Locke (St. Paul, MN), then won 10-3 against Darrick Kizlyk (Colorado Springs, CO) in their final qualifying round match.
