Hallstrom won 7-2 against K-G Pettersson (Linkoping, SWE). Hallstrom went on to lose 9-1 against Michael Vilenius (Stocksund, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Hallstrom earned 1.756 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 223 spots the World Ranking Standings into 414th place overall with 1.756 total points. Hallstrom ranks 351st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.756 points earned so far this season.
