Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) qualified for the 2016 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 6-3 against Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). of the 2016 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 in Cranbrook, British Columbia;

McEwen finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) 6-2, then won 6-3 against Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) and 9-3 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK). McEwen went on to lose 7-2 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in their final qualifying round match.

McEwen earned 35.997 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 6th place overall with 571.298 total points. McEwen ranks 16th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 113.377 points earned so far this season.
