Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) run at the 2016 WFG Masters came to an end in the semifinals with a 5-4 loss to Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT). of the 2016 WFG Masters in Okotoks, Alberta; Laycock advanced through the quarterfinals with a 5-3 win over David Murdoch (Stirling, SCO).

Laycock finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Laycock defeated Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) 7-4, then won 6-3 against John Epping (Toronto, ON) and 9-5 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA). Laycock won 8-1 against Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
