Mark Nichols (St. John's, NL) qualified for the 2016 WFG Masters playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 6-5 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT). of the 2016 WFG Masters in Okotoks, Alberta;
 
Nichols finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Nichols defeated Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) 9-4, then won 5-4 against Jacobs and 7-4 against Glenn Howard (Penetanguishene, ON). Nichols went on to lose 6-4 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Nichols earned 35.613 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the WFG Masters, remaining in 1st place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 758.463 total points. Nichols ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 230.820 points earned so far this season.
