Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) lost 4-2 to Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) in the Final of the Boost National, held December 6 - 11, 2016 in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Carruthers won 7-0 over Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in the semifinals of the 2016 Boost National in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario; and won 7-3 over John Epping (Toronto, ON) in the quarterfinals.
 
Carruthers finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carruthers defeated John Shuster (Duluth, USA) 7-5, then won 6-3 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) and 6-5 against Edin. Carruthers won 7-3 against Charley Thomas (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Boost National, Carruthers take home 64.001 world rankings points along with the $18,000CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 59.778 after improving upon their best so far this season. Carruthers ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 404.461 points earned so far this season.
