In their opening game, Gushue defeated Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) 7-2, then won 6-4 against John Morris (Vernon, BC) and 7-5 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB). Gushue went on to lose 6-4 against McEwen. Gushue lost 4-2 to Koe in their final qualifying round match.
