Japan's Junpei Kanda won 12-3 against Minoru Kusaka (Aomori, JPN). Japan's Junpei Kanda went on to lose 11-3 against Morozumi. Japan's Junpei Kanda responded with a 8-7 win over Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN). Japan's Junpei Kanda won 10-4 against Japan's Ryo Ogihara, then won 6-5 against Yasumoto Natsuizaka (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
