Ursi Hegner (Uzwil, SUI) run at the 2016 Red Deer Curling Classic came to an end in the semifinals with a 7-3 loss to Alberta's Nadine Chyz. of the 2016 Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta; Hegner advanced through the quarterfinals with a 5-4 win over Chelsea Carey (Calgary, AB).
 
Hegner finished 4-0 in the 22-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hegner defeated Alberta's Holly Baird 6-4, then won 10-2 against Sherry Anderson (Delisle, SK) and 7-1 against Saskatchewan's Nancy Martin. Hegner won 7-4 against Shannon Kleibrink (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
