Northern Ontario's Doug Dean lost 5-2 to Saskatchewan's Darwin Bender in the Final of the Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship, held April 4 - 10, 2016 in Regina, Saskatchewan.
 
Northern Ontario's Doug Dean finished 7-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Northern Ontario's Doug Dean lost 9-3 to Alberta's Jack Smart, then responded with a 8-6 win over Quebec's Sebastien Boisvert. Northern Ontario's Doug Dean won 12-7 against Nova Scotia's Trendal Hubley-Bolivar, then won 7-4 against Manitoba's Mark Wherrett and 8-2 against Newfoundland / Labrador's Cecilia Carroll. Northern Ontario's Doug Dean won 10-3 against New Brunswick's Mike Fitzgerald, then won 6-5 against Saskatchewan's Darwin Bender and 7-5 against Ontario's Collinda Joseph. Northern Ontario's Doug Dean went on to lose 7-4 against British Columbia's Frank LaBounty in their final qualifying round match.
