Ontario's Sherry Middaugh won 4-2 over United States's Nina Roth in the Final of the ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling, held December 30 - January 2, 2017 at the Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine, United States. To advance to the championship game, Ontario's Sherry Middaugh won 4-2 over Julie Tippin (Woodstock, ON) in the semifinals of the 2016 ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling in Blaine, Minnesota, United States; and won 6-5 over Northern Ontario's Krista McCarville in the quarterfinals.
 
Ontario's Sherry Middaugh finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ontario's Sherry Middaugh defeated Chiaki Matsumura (Karuizawa, JPN) 8-5, then went on to lose 7-2 against Tippin. Ontario's Sherry Middaugh lost 7-4 to Cory Christensen (Blaine, USA) where Ontario's Sherry Middaugh responded with a 7-4 win over Cristin Clark (Seattle, WA). Ontario's Sherry Middaugh won 5-4 against Minnesota's Cassie Potter in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling Championship title, Ontario's Sherry Middaugh earned 42.728 world rankings points along with the $6,722CDN first prize cheque. Ontario's Sherry Middaugh move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 38.722 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 16th overall with 324.656 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
