Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) won 8-3 over Steffen Walstad (Oslo, NOR) in the Final of the Mercure Perth Masters, held January 5 - 8, 2017 in Perth, Scotland. To advance to the championship game, Brewster won 6-4 over Alexander Baumann (Hamburg, GER) in the semifinals of the 2017 Mercure Perth Masters in Perth, Scotland; and won 6-4 over Rui Liu (HARBIN, CHN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Mercure Perth Masters in Perth, Scotland;
 
Brewster finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brewster defeated Kristian Foss (Oppdal, NOR) 7-1, then won 6-2 against Jiri Snitil (Prague, CZE) and 7-1 against 's Ewan MacDonald. Brewster went on to lose 5-3 against Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). Brewster responded with a 5-2 win over Marc Pfister (Adelboden, SUI). Brewster won 5-1 against 's Ewan MacDonald in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Mercure Perth Masters Championship title, Brewster earned 39.779 world rankings points along with the $10,565CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 18th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 37.021 after improving upon their best so far this season. Brewster ranks 14th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 175.513 points earned so far this season.
