William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) won 4-3 over Steve Irwin (Brandon, MB) in the Final of the Brandon Mens Bonspiel, held January 13 - 15, 2017 in Brandon, Manitoba. To advance to the championship game, Lyburn won 7-6 over Kelly Marnoch (Carberry, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Brandon Mens Bonspiel in Brandon, Manitoba; and won 4-3 over Glen Parrott (Brandon, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Brandon Mens Bonspiel in Brandon, Manitoba;
 
Lyburn finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lyburn defeated Kyle McCannell (Winnipeg, MB) 8-1, then won 5-2 against Ryan Hyde (Portage la Prairie, MB) and 5-3 against Irwin in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Brandon Mens Bonspiel Championship title, Lyburn earned 13.994 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN first prize cheque. Lyburn move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 9.857 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 20th overall with 265.709 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
