Steve Irwin (Brandon, MB) lost 4-3 to William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the Brandon Mens Bonspiel, held January 13 - 15, 2017 in Brandon, Manitoba. To advance to the championship game, Irwin won 8-2 over Jim Renwick (Brandon, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Brandon Mens Bonspiel in Brandon, Manitoba; and won 5-3 over Daley Peters (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals.

Irwin are currently 2-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Irwin defeated Justin Reynolds (Winnipeg Beach, MB) 5-4, then won 6-5 against Kelly Marnoch (Carberry, MB). Irwin went on to lose 5-3 against Lyburn. Irwin lost 5-3 to Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, MB). In their next game, Irwin plays.

With their runner-up finish at the Brandon Mens Bonspiel, Irwin take home 10.996 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN prize, moving up 31 spots the World Ranking Standings into 145th place overall with 35.952 total points. Irwin ranks 134th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 20.148 points earned so far this season.
