Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) finished 6-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ulsrud defeated
Alexey Timofeev (Moscow, RUS) 8-2, then won 7-2 against Mingjie Yuan (HARBIN, CHN) and 10-3 against Craig Brown (Blaine, USA). Ulsrud won 12-8 against Krystof Tabery (Prague, CZE). Ulsrud went on to lose 5-4 against William Lyburn (Winnipeg, CAN). Ulsrud responded with a 10-9 win over Marc Pfister (Adelboden, SUI). Ulsrud won 8-6 against Gustav Eskilsson (Skellefte�, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Qinghai China Men's International Championship title, Ulsrud earned 19.688 world rankings points along with the $13,331CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 11th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 420.158 total points. Ulsrud ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 231.482 points earned so far this season.
