Mellor went on to lose 7-6 against Aaron Squires (Brantford, ON). Mellor responded with a 6-2 win over Damien Villard (Cambridge, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Port Elgin Superspiel, Mellor take home 17.560 world rankings points along with the $3,100CDN prize, moving up 177 spots the World Ranking Standings into 168th place overall with 21.470 total points.
