Peter Mellor (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) lost 7-2 to Dayna Deruelle (Brampton , ON) in the Final of the Port Elgin Superspiel, held November 18 - 20, 2016 at the Port Elgin Curling Club in Port Elgin, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Mellor won 6-2 over Richard Krell (Waterloo, ON) in the semifinals of the 2016 Port Elgin Superspiel in Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada; and won 4-2 over Tanner Horgan (Sudbury, NONT) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Port Elgin Superspiel in Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada;

Mellor finished 3-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mellor defeated Rob Lobel (Toronto, ON) 6-4, then won 7-1 against Ryan LeDrew (Sarnia, ON). Mellor went on to lose 7-6 against Aaron Squires (Brantford, ON). Mellor responded with a 6-2 win over Damien Villard (Cambridge, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Port Elgin Superspiel, Mellor take home 17.560 world rankings points along with the $3,100CDN prize, moving up 177 spots the World Ranking Standings into 168th place overall with 21.470 total points. Mellor ranks 99th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 17.560 points earned so far this season.
