To advance to the championship game, Thompson won 5-1 over Nadine Chyz (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2017 King Cash Spiel in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada; Karla Thompson (Kamloops, BC) qualified for the 2017 King Cash Spiel playoffs, set to play their quarterfinals match against Sarah Wark (Chilliwack, BC). of the 2017 King Cash Spiel in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada;
 
Thompson are currently 4-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thompson defeated Wark 6-4, then went on to lose 5-3 against Chyz. Thompson responded with a 5-4 win over Hudyma. Thompson won 8-5 against Kayte Gyles (Surrey, BC), then won 6-1 against Wark. In their next game, Thompson plays.
 
For winning the King Cash Spiel Championship title, Thompson earned 21.519 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 4 spots the World Ranking Standings into 34th place overall with 173.182 total points. Thompson ranks 24th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 128.548 points earned so far this season.
