Tanner Horgan (Sudbury, NONT) lost 4-2 to Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) in the Final of the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard Tier 2, held September 8 - 11, 2016 in Oakville, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Horgan won 9-3 over Michael Brunner (Gstaad, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2016 Stu Sells Oakville Tankard Tier 2 in Oakville, Ontario; and won 6-5 over Mark Bice (Sarnia, ON) in the quarterfinals.
 
Horgan finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Horgan defeated Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB) 5-4, then won 6-3 against Ryan LeDrew (Sarnia, ON) and 11-2 against Pierre-Luc Morissette (Quebec, QC). Horgan went on to lose 6-2 against Steve Allen (Ottawa, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard Tier 2, Horgan take home 26.689 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN prize, moving up 32 spots the World Ranking Standings into 56th place overall with 62.648 total points. Horgan ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 43.907 points earned so far this season.
