Rui Liu (HARBIN, CHN) finished 4-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Liu lost 8-3 to Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA), then responded with a 6-4 win over Alexey Stukalskiy (Moscow, RUS). Liu won 5-1 against Xiu Yue Ma (Harbin, CHN), then won 6-5 against Gustav Eskilsson (Skellefteï¿½, SWE) and 7-2 against Fengchun Wang (Harbin, CHN). Liu went on to lose 7-5 against Marc Pfister (Adelboden, SUI). Liu lost 4-2 to Charley Thomas (Edmonton, CAN) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Harbin International Men's Championship, Liu take home 14.953 world rankings points along with the $6,450CDN prize, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 31st place overall with 114.402 total points. Liu ranks 24th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 17.140 points earned so far this season.
