Kauste responded with a 7-3 win over Finland's Markus Sipila. Kauste won 7-6 against Kiiskinen, then won 6-3 against Uusipaavalniemi and 6-1 against Finland's Olli Rissanen. Kauste won 13-2 against Finland's Jari Saarelainen, then won 10-8 against Rantamaki and 10-5 against Finland's Jani Sullanmaa. Kauste won 8-7 against Finland's Markus Sipila, then won 7-2 against Finland's Jani Sullanmaa and 7-6 against Uusipaavalniemi. Kauste won 8-2 against Rantamaki, then won 9-3 against Finland's Jani Sullanmaa and 9-7 against Uusipaavalniemi. Kauste won 8-7 against Rantamaki in their final qualifying round match.
