Uusipaavalniemi responded with a 8-3 win over Finland's Jani Sullanmaa. Uusipaavalniemi went on to lose 7-6 against Rantamaki. Uusipaavalniemi lost 9-7 to Kauste where Uusipaavalniemi responded with a 7-1 win over Finland's Jani Sullanmaa in their final qualifying round match.
