To advance to the championship game, Korte won 8-1 over Aaron Shutra (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2016 Saskatoon Nutana SCT Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and won 6-5 over Carl deConinck Smith (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Saskatoon Nutana SCT Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan;
 
Korte finished 2-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Korte lost 4-3 to Ryan Deis (Fox Valley, SK), droppimg another game, 9-6 to Jeff Hartung (Langenberg, SK) where Korte responded with a 8-1 win over Ben Gamble (Saskatoon, SK). Korte won 4-3 against Brady Scharback (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Saskatoon Nutana SCT Classic Championship title, Korte earned 15.750 world rankings points along with the $2,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 27th place overall with 171.047 total points. Korte ranks 23rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 74.438 points earned so far this season.
