To advance to the championship game, Heidt won 7-3 over Shawn Joyce (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2016 Highland Cash Spiel in Regina, Saskatchewan; and won 6-5 over Randy Bryden (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Highland Cash Spiel in Regina, Saskatchewan;
 
Heidt finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Heidt defeated Ryan Sveinbjornson (Regina, SK) 9-6, then won 8-6 against Jason Ackerman (Regina, SK). Heidt went on to lose 7-1 against Brent Gedak (Estevan, SK). Heidt responded with a 8-2 win over Mike Eberle (Regina, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Highland Cash Spiel, Heidt take home 11.313 world rankings points along with the $1,800CDN prize, moving up 70 spots the World Ranking Standings into 163rd place overall with 20.753 total points. Heidt ranks 116th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 11.313 points earned so far this season.
