Jacobson finished 4-1 in the 19-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jacobson defeated Selke 6-2, then went on to lose 3-2 against Heidt. Jacobson won 7-2 against Jeff Hartung (Langenberg, SK), then won 4-1 against Ben Gamble (Moose Jaw, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
