To advance to the championship game, Jacobson won 6-2 over Carl deConinck Smith (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2016 Humboldt Cash Spiel in Humboldt, Saskatchewan; and won 6-1 over Daniel Selke (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Humboldt Cash Spiel in Humboldt, Saskatchewan;
 
Jacobson finished 4-1 in the 19-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jacobson defeated Selke 6-2, then went on to lose 3-2 against Heidt. Jacobson responded with a 6-1 win over Shawn Joyce (Saskatoon, SK). Jacobson won 7-2 against Jeff Hartung (Langenberg, SK), then won 4-1 against Ben Gamble (Moose Jaw, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
