Kurt Balderston (Grande Prairie, AB) won 9-1 over Tyler Pfeiffer (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Grande Prairie Cash Spiel, held October 28 - 30, 2016 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Balderston won 8-6 over Graham Powell (Grande Prarie, AB) in the semifinals of the 2016 Grande Prairie Cash Spiel in Grande Prairie, Alberta; and won 7-2 over Scott Webb (Peace River, AB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Balderston finished 3-0 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Balderston defeated Kevin Hrab (Fort St. John, BC) 8-2, then won 6-2 against Warren Cross (Edmonton, AB) and 7-3 against Webb in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Grande Prairie Cash Spiel Championship title, Balderston earned 10.457 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN first prize cheque, moving up 60 spots the World Ranking Standings into 155th place overall with 20.957 total points. Balderston ranks 109th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 10.457 points earned so far this season.
