Kurt Balderston (Grande Prairie, AB) won 6-4 over Warren Cross (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Peace Tour Championship, held January 13 - 15, 2017 in Sexsmith, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Balderston won 9-2 over Graham Powell (Grande Prarie, AB) in the semifinals
 
Balderston finished 2-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Balderston lost 5-4 to Powell, then responded with a 6-1 win over Scott Webb (Peace River, AB). Balderston won 7-1 against Stefan Pavlis (Dawson Creek, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Peace Tour Championship Championship title, Balderston earned 6.896 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 10 spots the World Ranking Standings into 101st place overall with 53.978 total points. Balderston ranks 74th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 43.478 points earned so far this season.
