Kevin Wunderlin (Biel, SUI) finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wunderlin defeated Kim-Lloyd Sciboz (Lausanne, SUI) 6-3, then won 19-2 against Lucas Munuera (San Sebastian, ESP) and 10-3 against Yves Wagenseil (Dubendorf, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Thompson Curling Challenge Championship title, Wunderlin earned 12.002 world rankings points along with the $4,246CDN first prize cheque, moving up 31 spots the World Ranking Standings into 110th place overall with 34.155 total points. Wunderlin ranks 70th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 14.202 points earned so far this season.
