Smith finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Ally Fraser (Perth, SCO) 6-3, then won 10-3 against Bjorn Jungen (Adelboden, SUI) and 7-4 against Antonio De Mollinedo (San Sebastian, ESP). Smith won 6-1 against Chay Telfer (Glasgow, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Dumfries Challenger Series Championship title, Smith earned 16.164 world rankings points along with the $4,997CDN first prize cheque. Smith move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 14.34 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 13th overall with 373.573 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Smith ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 245.074 points earned so far this season.
