McCannell lost 8-6 to Shane McGranahan (Brandon, MB) where McCannell responded with a 7-5 win over Shawn Taylor (Brandon, MB). McCannell went on to lose 8-7 against Kelly McMechan (Deloraine, MB). McCannell responded with a 7-6 win over Duane Lang (Brandon, MB). McCannell won 8-7 against Steve Irwin (Brandon, MB). McCannell went on to lose 8-7 against Butch Mouck (Minnedosa, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

McCannell earned 1.303 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 179th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 25.775 total points. McCannell ranks 296th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 4.710 points earned so far this season.
