Lawes/Kennedy finished 4-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lawes/Kennedy defeated Jillian Walker/Sean Beighton (Seattle, WA) 9-6, then won 7-2 against Val Sweeting/Jeff Stoughton (Edmonton, AB). Lawes/Kennedy went on to lose 8-2 against Miskew/Griffith. Lawes/Kennedy responded with a 9-4 win over Lisa Weagle/John Epping (Ottawa, ON). Lawes/Kennedy won 9-3 against Rui Wang/De Xin Ba (Harbin, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.
