In their opening game, Ursel defeated Lisa Menard (Dauphin, MB) 7-5, then went on to lose 8-6 against Barb Spencer (winnnipeg, MB). Ursel responded with a 9-2 win over Tiffany McLean (Portage la Prairie, MB). Ursel won 7-4 against Menard. Ursel went on to lose 8-1 against Janet Harvey (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

Ursel earned 2.166 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 18 spots the World Ranking Standings into 149th place overall with 11.601 total points. Ursel ranks 136th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.773 points earned so far this season.
