Hess finished 4-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hess defeated Lottenbach 5-2, then went on to lose 6-2 against Ross Whyte (Dumfries, SCO). Hess responded with a 8-4 win over Gaetan Mancini (Thun, SUI). Hess won 3-2 against Kristian Foss (Oslo, NOR), then won 5-4 against Marc Muskatewitz (Fuessen, GER) in their final qualifying round match.
