In their opening game, Smart defeated Jacquie Sandnes (Whitecourt, AB) 8-4, then won 7-4 against Nicky Kaufman (Edmonton, AB) and 7-5 against Holly Scott (Edmonton, AB). Smart went on to lose 7-2 against Holly Baird (Edmonton, AB). Smart responded with a 7-3 win over Lindsay Makichuk (Edmonton, AB). Smart went on to lose 9-8 against Karynn Flory (Edmonton, AB). Smart lost 7-2 to Kaufman in their final qualifying round match.

Smart earned 1.658 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 101 spots the World Ranking Standings into 239th place overall with 1.658 total points. Smart ranks 189th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.658 points earned so far this season.
