Janais DeJong (Leduc, AB) lost 8-5 to Kristen Streifel (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Alberta Junior Women's Provincials, held January 4 - 8, 2017 in Edmonton, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, DeJong won 6-5 over Kayla Skrlik (Falher, AB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Alberta Junior Women's Provincials in Edmonton, Alberta;
 
DeJong finished 5-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, DeJong defeated Ashton Simard (Edmonton, AB) 10-4, then won 6-5 against Abby Marks (Edmonton, AB) and 9-5 against McKenna Jones (Medicine Hat, AB). DeJong went on to lose 6-5 against Skrlik. DeJong lost 13-7 to Jessica Wytrychowski (Calgary, AB) where DeJong responded with a 8-4 win over Selena Sturmay (Calgary, AB). DeJong won 7-6 against Streifel in their final qualifying round match.
