Gushue finished 9-2 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) 8-6, then went on to lose 8-4 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). Gushue responded with a 6-4 win over Mike Kennedy (Fredericton, NB). Gushue won 10-5 against Adam Casey (Regina, SK). Gushue went on to lose 8-4 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT). Gushue responded with a 7-5 win over Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT). Gushue won 5-4 against John Morris (Vernon, BC), then won 7-3 against Jean-Michel Menard (Levis, QC) and 8-7 against Glenn Howard (Toronto, ON). Gushue won 7-6 against Koe, then won 6-3 against Jamie Murphy (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Tim Hortons Brier Championship title, Gushue earned 83.558 world rankings points. For week 30 of the event schedule, Gushue did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Gushue ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
