9-6 to Steffen Walstad (Oslo, NOR), then responded with a 9-4 win over John Shuster (Duluth, USA). Murdoch won 7-4 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Murdoch went on to lose 9-7 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). Murdoch lost 8-2 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, CAN). Murdoch lost 6-5 to Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI) where Murdoch responded with a 9-5 win over Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED). Murdoch went on to lose 6-4 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Murdoch responded with a 6-2 win over Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA). Murdoch won 7-1 against Alexander Baumann (Fuessen, GER), then won 7-6 against Alexey Stukalskiy (Moscow, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Murdoch earned 15.561 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 10th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 10.576 after improving upon their best so far this season.
