Zach Warkentin (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) lost 6-3 to Tanner Horgan (Copper Cliff, NONT) in the Final of the Northern Ontario Junior Men, held December 27 - 30, 2016 in Sudbury, Northern Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Warkentin won 7-2 over Nicholas Lemieux (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) in the semifinals of the 2017 Northern Ontario Junior Men in Sudbury, Northern Ontario;
 
Warkentin finished 4-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Warkentin defeated Lemieux 10-2, then won 7-3 against Fred Diebel (Espanola, NONT) and 6-1 against Marcus Senecal (Thessalon, NONT). Warkentin went on to lose 6-2 against Horgan. Warkentin lost 10-9 to Max Cull (Sudbury, NONT) where Warkentin responded with a 6-5 win over Felix LaSalle (Schumacher, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
