Al Hackner (Thunder Bay, NONT) finished 6-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hackner defeated Robbie Gordon (Sudbury, NONT) 8-5, then won 7-6 against Chris Glibota (Sudbury, NONT) and 10-2 against Matt Mann (Sault Ste. Marie, NONT). Hackner went on to lose 7-6 against Ryan Sayer (New Liskeard, NONT). Hackner responded with a 9-6 win over Colin Koivula (Thunder Bay, NONT). Hackner won 5-3 against Mike Assad (Geraldton, NONT), then won 5-3 against Jordan Chandler (Sudbury, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Northern Ontario Travelers Tankard - East Qualifier Championship title, Hackner earned 6.825 world rankings points, moving up 17 spots the World Ranking Standings into 127th place overall with 41.341 total points. Hackner ranks 107th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 27.407 points earned so far this season.
