Eddie MacKenzie (Charlottetown, PEI) won 8-2 over Phil Gorveatt (Charlottetown, PEI) in the Final of the PEI Tankard, held January 19 - 22, 2017 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. To advance to the championship game, MacKenzie won 9-7 over Phil Gorveatt (Charlottetown, PEI) in the semifinals of the 2017 PEI Tankard in Summerside, Prince Edward Island;
 
MacKenzie finished 3-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, MacKenzie defeated Dennis Watts (Charlottetown, PEI) 8-5, then won 7-3 against Jamie Newson (Charlottetown, PEI) and 8-4 against Blair Jay (Summerside, PEI). MacKenzie went on to lose 8-3 against Gorveatt. MacKenzie lost 10-8 to Robert Campbell (Charlottetown, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the PEI Tankard Championship title, MacKenzie earned 4.725 world rankings points. MacKenzie move up 72 spots after posting a net gain of 3.713 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 325th overall with 7.129 total points on the World Ranking Standings. MacKenzie ranks 306th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 3.713 points earned so far this season.
