Marla Mallett (Maple Ridge, BC) won 6-3 over Diane Gushulak (New Wesstminster, BC) in the Final of the BC Scotties, held January 17 - 22, 2017 in Duncan, British Columbia.
Mallett finished 6-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mallett defeated Sarah Wark (Chilliwack, BC) 7-4, then won 8-2 against Julie Herndier (Surrey, BC) and 8-4 against Gushulak. Mallett won 8-6 against Dailene Pewarchuk (Victoria, BC), then won 10-6 against Lindsay Hudyma (Vancouver, BC) and 6-5 against Karla Thompson (Kamloops, BC). Mallett went on to lose 6-2 against Kesa Van Osch (Nanaimo, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the BC Scotties Championship title, Mallett earned 11.550 world rankings points. For week 23 of the event schedule, Mallett did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Mallett ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
