Smith lost 9-3 to Tyler Tardi (Langley, BC) where Smith responded with a 5-4 win over Matthew Hall (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Smith earned 2.265 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
