To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 6-2 over Adam Boland (St. Johns, NL) in the semifinals of the 2017 Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard in St. Johns, Newfoundland / Labrador;

Gushue finished 4-0 in the 5-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Boland 7-2, then won 7-1 against Trent Skanes (St. Johns, NL) and 9-3 against Colin Thomas (St. Johns, NL). Gushue won 8-4 against Paul Harvey (St. Johns, NL) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard Championship title, Gushue earned 6.825 world rankings points. For week 24 of the event schedule, Gushue did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Gushue ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
